#1. Pinkus Alt – Westphalia, Germany $4.99/bottle Alt is the German word for “old” or “ale.” This organic ale comes to us from Westphalia, in northern Germany. It is pale and golden in color with excellent, herbaceous, aroma, delicate fruit palate, and a long dry finish. Mahon – Spain $23/lb Mahon is a Spanish cheese originating on the island of Minorca, off the northeast coast of Spain. The rind is orange in color as a result of being rubbed with a mixture of butter, oil, and paprika. The cheese has a semi-firm texture and provides a salty and nutty taste on the palate.
#2. Red Tail – Mendocino, California $3.99/bottle This amber ale is the flagship brand of the Mendocino Brewing Company. Brewed in the traditional Old World Manner, using two-row malted barley and hops, making it a well-balanced full-bodied ale. 6.1% alc Parrano – Netherlands $21/lb “The Dutch cheese that thinks its Italian,” combines the flavor of aged parmesan with a pliant texture. This Gouda is aged for five months, developing a nuttiness, while maintaining the firm, smooth texture of a young gouda.
#3. Big Swell IPA – Maui, Hawaii $1.89/can This India Pale Ale is brewed with huge amounts of American Hops and Malted Barley then dry-hopped to perfection! Its flavor begins with a smooth, malty creaminess followed with a spicy-citrus bitterness and a clean floral finish . 6.2% alc Cahill Porter – Ireland $21/lb An Irish cheddar, Cahill Porter is flavored with the cheese makers own farm-made porter beer. This cheese is hand-crafted and made with vegetable rennet, making it a great vegetarian option!
#4. Chimay Red – Belgium $6.99/bottle Dating back to 1863, the Cistercian Trappist monks of Chimay have been developing delicious beers and cheeses. Chimay Red gives off a light, fruity apricot aroma which is produced by the fermentation. This beer is silky on the tongue followed by a light touch of bitterness. 7% alc. Chimay Biere – Belgium $28/lb This natural rind cheese is actually bathed in Chimay Trappist beer so that its flavor flatters the palate and the nose. Chimay is a semi-hard cheese made fresh from the cows on their farm and matured in the vaulted cellars of the abbey.
#5. Samuel Smith Nut Brown Ale -- England $4.99/bottle Brown ale is one of the oldest English brewing styles, mentioned in literature in the 16th century. Beers brewed at the old brewery have a round, nutty flavor because of the Yorkshire square system of fermentation. Walnut-like color and a hazelnut flavor, with a wonderful balance of roasted crystal malt and aromatic hops. 5% alc Stilton -- England $27/lb An English blue, Stilton ages for about four to six months, which allows mold to grow. Its creamy and rich in texture and its flavor sharpens with age. It has a mellow flavor with a blue-cheese bite! It’s paired with our delicious Spanish quince paste.
