Trevor's Trek

Walking for Childhood Cancer Awareness

Trevor became a fan of fine food "with a sense of humor" with a logo t-shirt during his visit to Who Cut The Cheese this summer. When he called us to order more logo-wear as holiday gifts, we heard about his trek. Trevor's visit to Maui with his mom, Charlie, was a celebration of his 18th birthday, but also to honor 5 years of being cancer free!

Sometimes the greatest distance traveled is accomplished in just a few steps. After Trevor Smith's surgery for brain cancer in November, 2002, at the age of thirteen he couldn't even get out of bed. When he finally took his first steps, it was with someone holding onto him. Trevor Smith is a survivor.  Now at the age of eighteen, he has become a forceful voice for the children of Idaho who are suffering from cancer. Trevor said, "Every state should be aware of childhood cancer, it is a goal of mine someday to see that every state has a Trevor's Trek, Walk for Childhood Cancer Awareness."

For more information about Trevor's Trek and how you can help raise Childhood Cancer Awareness, please visit his website where you can contact him.

A Triple Creme is Three Times the Fun

Brillat Savarin, Cow's milk, France

With the season upon us, many party goers & givers seek triple-cream cheeses. Cream-enriched and dreamy, they cozy up perfectly to sparkling wine. France's Brillat-Savarin is a gem of a triple-cream and is perfectly behaved on a cheese tray or buffet.

Serve with walnut bread or toast and ripe pears or grapes to cut the richness. Sparkling wine is this cheese's friend.

Italian Volcano 100% Organic Blood Orange Juice

Blood_OJ

Italian Volcano® Juice comes from 100% certified organic blood oranges grown along the slopes of the Mt. Etna volcano in Sicily. In order to secure the freshest flavor possible, the blood oranges are juiced immediately after harvest and flash pasteurized. This allows for the long shelf-life and produces a fresh squeezed taste similar to the “Spremuta di Arance Rossa” found in many Italian bars. This juice is high in Vitamin C and anti-oxidants.

Cheesy Fact
Often cheeses are named after the town nearest where they were made. Pierre Robert came from an area where a long dead dukedom called Brie-Comte-Robert once was. The first part of the name, Pierre, was named after the limestone outcropping near the area.

Hope you all have happy holidays!
