Cheezetoids & More by Gordie

The Cheese course in most countries in Europe is usually an:

  1. Appetizer
  2. Dessert
  3. Breakfast
  4. Entrée

I have just returned from Europe and I was very satisfied with my cheese experience.  In Europe they have the cheese course before or in place of dessert.  In England they brought me a whole cart full of assorted cheeses, from French Brie, to Bleu, to Mimolette.  I enjoyed the experience very much and hope that you can experience it too!

This has been a Gordan McGuire Production – Answer to this month’s question:  B.  Dessert

Cheese Olympics!   Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006   3-7pm

Cheese Olympics is Maui’s first keiki/chef athletic food event with a MISSION!

Teamed up with the Kihei Community Association, KCA, the mission is, People, food, and fun (B)eat out drugs in Kihei! It is also a membership drive for the KCA, bottom line it is an event giving back to our community while having fun.

There will be cheesy athletic events: Cheese wheel rolling contest, mimolette shotput, passes the chabichu du poitu, cheesecake eating contest and MORE…!!! For our chef friends there will be “Iron Chef” cheese platter and basket building competitions where the final products will be auctioned off for the benefit of Kihei. There will be a cheesy recipe contest, and surely the goods will be available from the participating food booths, which will be provided by some of the South Shore’s top restaurants, such as Sarento’s and Spago!

Yes, there will be great food and live entertainment and tons of fun. Currently we are seeking corporate sponsors. You can contact our ringleader, Victoria McGuire at 281.5201 or Ann Tuomela at 874.3930 for details on the benefits of being a corporate sponsor.
