Nani Moon Mead

Picture

Mead, honey wine, is considered to be the oldest alcoholic beverage in recorded history. It has origins in many societies that date back 6,000 years! Nani Moon Mead is locally made and handcrafted on Kaua'i. They exclusively purchase their honey and fruit from local Hawaiian beekeepers and farmers. This ensures great quality and promotes local business, which we are all about! We are now carrying two of their meads in the store, the Pineapple Guava Sunset and Winter Sun!

Pineapple Guava Sunset: A medium bodied dry honey wine with mild acidity, handcrafted using Hawaiian honey, guava and pineapple. This blend is very versatile and is wonderful to drink at the beach, on your lanai watching sunset or at a party with friends. $22.99

Winter Sun: This mead is handcrafted with Kaua'i starfruit, lilikoi and tropical black tea. Full bodied, smooth and fruity with juicy notes of lilikoi. Perfect to drink while watching the winter sun and feeling the cooling trade winds blowing in the air.  $23.99

Delicious Summer-time Recipe

One of our new favorite recipes at Who Cut The Cheese was introduced to us by Ann's sister in Arizona. We love this Wasabi dip, some of you may remember it was featured at the Sake tasting in June. It's quick, easy and delicious and we are excited to pass it on for you to try as well, enjoy!

Asparagus with Wasabi-Mayonnaise Dip

3 lb thin to medium asparagus, trimmed
1 cup mayonnaise
4 teaspoons soy sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons wasabi paste

Blanch asparagus in 2 batches in a large saucepan of boiling salted water 1 minute. Transfer to a colander and rinse under cold running water to stop cooking. Drain well and pat dry.

Whisk together mayonnaise, soy sauce, sugar, lemon juice, and wasabi paste until sugar is dissolved.

Serve asparagus with dip.

The Barbeclette has been specially designed to melt cheese on the barbeque. It is especially delicious with Raclette cheese, though works well with mozzarella, gorgonzola, bries and more! Melting plate is provided with a non-stick coating and includes a mini spatula to easily slide cheese off the barbeclette.

Weekend Update

PRETTY IN PINK
tasting highlight!

This past month's tasting was a huge hit, thanks to all of you who were able to attend. We tasted some wonderful new rosés and cheeses. Some of the hits from this tasting are as follows:

Chapoutier: Light and delicate, this rosé is perfect for a warm Maui afternoon. Something that really makes it stand out is their use of braille on the label, trying to reach all the wine-lovers out there!

I’m Rosé: Deliciously dark rosé is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon fruit. This wine is created by Isabel Mondavi (Robert's daugher-in-law) and uses fully mature fruit from their Atlas Peak & Pope Valley vineyards

Tomme du Fedou: A new raw sheep's milk cheese from France. It has a natural rind that imparts an earthiness into both the aroma and the flavor.

YarraValley Feta: This rich cow's milk cheese from Australia is bathed in a delicious herb oil. It is very creamy and was perfect paired with the Chapoutier.
