Aloha fellow Cheese-lovers (in the high-brow foodie world a "turophile")!

With that salutation I'll stress that Who Cut the Cheese is not a high-brow foodie place, but rather a place for "those with fine taste and a sense of humor!" We hope this debut newsletter finds everybody in good health and spirits.

So, as we begin our fourth month of business I must personally thank all of you for your on-going support. We are no longer a cheese deprived community. And thanks to your input we have added some wonderful selections. I’ll mention a few:

v      Cotswold, yummy delicious, as one customer described this cheese from England, "It tastes like a baked potato with sour cream and chives." Excellent descriptor!

v      Shropshire, another English recommendation, true blue cousin to the English Stilton. What a beautiful cylinder, comes in at approximately 18-20 pounds. She's a beauty, and wonderfully delicious for all you blue cheese fans.

v      Cantal, from France, a cheese that “Tastes like buttered popcorn from the movie theater."  A perfect descriptor from another enthusiastic cheese monger!

v      Aged Gouda (how-dah), from the Netherlands, what a treat! If you're looking for something "Parm-like,” this is the puppy. It has beautiful caramel and butterscotch nuances. So we'll call this one just "yummie-licious." Nothing but sophisticated descriptors at Who Cut the Cheese!

It’s time to announce our FIRST cheese and wine event…The Cutting of the "Parm."  Surely you’ve noticed the 85 pound wheel of Parmesean Reggiano perched on top of our deli case. Yes, that is going to get cut! Hence, our first wine and cheese event will be Italian. Cheese selections will be Sottocenere with Truffle, Taleggio, Gorgonzola Dolce, and perhaps that beautiful Robiola for a topper. We'll start off with a Prosecco, producer yet to be determined, and lovely pairings of other Italian wines. Give us a call for more details because, at this juncture, we're still working on the perfect pairings.

The Cutting of the "Parm" will be held at Bocalino's, two doors makai of Who Cut the Cheese,

v      Wednesday, August 27, the same day Mars will be as close to earth as it's been in 6,000 years! Two great reasons to mark your calendar.

v      The time is 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM

v      The cost is $50.00 plus tax and gratuity.

v      Call 874-3930 to reserve your spot. Seating is limited to 20.

It’s never too early to be thinking about holiday entertaining. Let us prepare your custom cheese platter…your plate or ours. We also prepare beautiful gift baskets.

That's it for now. To close, from all of us at Who Cut the Cheese, we want to say many mahalos for your continued support.

Cheers and A Sante

Cheese fact: “Big Cheese” refers to the 1,234 pound, 4 foot high wheel of cheddar cheese presented to President Jefferson at a New Years Day party. Anyone fortunate to own such a large wheel of cheese is referred to as the “Big Cheese.”
